Description

The Astera AX1 Pixel Tube RGB LED Tube Light emits up to 253 lux at 3.3′ (5500K) with an integrated battery that is suitable for a variety uses in cine, theatrical, and event productions. The AX1 features 16 individually addressable LED emitters in a 3.4′ long tube that you can mount into a set, on a stand, hang from a grid, or even hold in your bare hand. The AX1 features a CRI/TLCI rating of 88, which provides for good color rendition. The fixture can be used to create a soft, direct light on your subject or be used as an accent light as well as a design element in the location or set. The fixture features five different Dimming Curve modes, as Astera refers to it. Selection of these modes along with the Pulse Width Modulation dimming of the fixture enables flicker-free video shooting. The Pixel Tube features an integrated battery that charges in approximately 7 hours using the included charger and has a run time of 20 hours. It can be controlled remotely by IR, a downloadable app, and wireless DMX. The Pixel Tube has an IP rating of 65 for dust and water ingress, when the rubber plug to cover the charging port is in place. The IP65 rating means the fixture is completely dust tight, and it is impervious to low-pressure jets, which means you can use this fixture in dusty environments and in wet conditions.

*Dimmer Curve
– You can set the fixture's dimming response depending on the application you are using the light for:
– FAST: For pixel mapping and similar applications, provides a totally unfiltered response
– STANDARD: Good compromise between response and smoothness for most applications
– HALOGEN: When slow and smooth dimming is required, emulates the characteristics of a halogen light
– THEATER: For theater use, provides very smooth response and increased dynamics although some colors are darker in this mode
– TV: For filming on Broadcast and other shows. The dimming response is faster but still smooth dimming. Although this mode produces less blue light due to its fixed white point of 6500K, it also provides increased dynamics with some colors being darker

Control Connections

– You can use an Astera ARC1 infrared remote control; simply point it at individual lights to set the desired effect.
– The downloadable AsteraApp is an efficient way to quickly create a customized lightshow using your device. It can group several lights together, address individual lights or groups of lights, and send complex effects with a user defined color palette to all lights in range.
– The light can also be controlled by CRMX wireless DMX, as the built-in receiver is compatible with all LumenRadio CRMX transmitters as well as W-DMX G2, G3, G4, and G4S transmitters, although G4 and G4S is only supported in 2.4 GHz mode.
– You can also use an Astera ART3 Wireless DMX Transmitter to send DMX in the UHF frequency band, although CRMX is the recommended method.
